Historical Boundary Interpretation

Historical Surveys

I have studied, written and testified as to the historical aspects of surveying and mapping in both federal courts and state courts. This has included specific states as well as federal history. The area of expertise includes methodology of the historical surveys, interpretation of historic maps, field notes, grants and other historical documents, and their application to present day situations.

Aerial Photo Interpretation

I received a minor degree in college in aerial photogrammetry. I then worked as a photo interpreter. I have testified on numerous occasions as to the interpretation of images on current and historical aerial photographs.

Land Boundaries

I have written extensively, testified in a score of states and have conducted field surveys and lectured on boundary disputes and their settlement. This area includes adverse rights, easements and title problems.

Forestry Related Evidence

As a graduate forester I have consulted and testified as to forestry aspects of surveying and boundaries. This includes the interpretation of the meanings of old deeds that refer to trees and other forestry related evidence.

Riparian Problems

I have practical training in riparian boundary problems, and have testified on several occasions on riparian rights and riparian surveys based on my practical field training and experience.
